Weekend Tool and Die Maker
Company: Advanced Fiber Products
Job Type: Weekend
Salary: $23 - $30 per hour
Advanced Fiber Products is looking to expand its Tool and Die Shop! We are currently seeking a dedicated, talented Tool and Die Maker to join our team working weekends. Hours are Friday-Sunday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. You will work 36 hours and get paid for 40!
Responsibilities
- Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
- Computes dimensions, layouts, assembly methods, and sequences of operations.
- Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining.
- Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.
- Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances.
- Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of parts.
- Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches the design of the product.
- Reviews with press operator on previous and following shift, specific instructions, irregularities, and status of job currently on press.
- Visually inspects material while operating presses.
- Follows departmental job policies & procedures.
- Maintains a neat, safe work area.
- Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Uses measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, dial indicators, and digital readers.
- Strong mathematical skills, as may be required to make measurements.
Qualifications
- Experience with surface grinders, lathes, and mills.
- Heavy lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Repetitive bending, squatting, and twisting.
- Ability to stand for an entire 12-hour shift.
- Welding and brazing knowledge.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as earplugs, safety glasses, and steel toes.
- Must be able to work overtime as required.
Experience
- Surface Grinder: 1 year
- Lathe: 1 year
- Mill: 1 year
- Knowledge of CNC machine.
